Lithium-polymer accumulators (also called LiPoly or LiPo batteries) belong to the Li-Ion battery family. They are characterized by low self-discharge, long service life, and high capacity. Compared to other Li-Ion technologies, the energy content of Li-Polymer batteries is somewhat lower, but they are more resistant to overcharging. The polymer-based electrolytes enable a variety of designs with a low overall battery weight. LiPo batteries are particularly used in electric cars, model making, smartphones, and notebooks.
