Leek MUSSELBURGH \nFirst grown near Edinburgh around 1834 from seed imported from France, Musselburgh is now considered an heirloom variety. \nA mid-season leek that has a fine reputation for being very reliable. \nMusselburgh produces heavy crops of thick stemmed leeks around 15 inches long and often 2-3 inches in diameter, they are ready for use from November onwards. \nWhen cooked most people describe the texture as tender with a mild, yet extremely tasty flavour. \nA strong grower, Musselburgh is exceptionally hardy and stands well even in the coldest of winter weather, it can even withstand long periods of frost. \nThis hardiness makes it very popular with growers in the coldest areas of the country. \nOften grilled or roasted for use as a side dish but leeks find many other uses in the kitchen, i.e risotto, in stuffing, for baking in pies etc. \nLeek is also the main ingredient in two of the world’s most famous soups, Cock-a-leekie and Crème vichyssoise. \nMusselburgh leeks need a long growing season and from sowing to harvest can be around 35 weeks. \nThey also show some rust resistance. \nDetailed growing instructions are on the back of each packet \nPacket contains: 265 seeds approx. \nIMMEDIATE \n \nDesign and colouring of packets may occasionally vary. \nWe want you to be happy with your purchase and all our Leek seed is checked and inspected visually before packing. .
