750 SC16IS750 Single UART With I2C-Bus/SPI Interface For Industrial Control SC16IS750 Single UART with I2C-bus/SPI interface The SC16IS740/750/760 is a slave I2C-bus/SPI interface to a single-channel high-performance UART. It supports data rates up to 5 Mbit/s and features low operating and sleep current. The SC16IS750 and SC16IS760 include 8 additional programmable I/O pins. The devices are available in compact HVQFN24 and TSSOP24 packages (SC16IS750/760) and TSSOP16 package (SC16IS740), making them suitable for portable, battery-powered applications. This family enables protocol conversion between I2C-bus or SPI and RS-232/RS-485, with full bidirectional operation. The SC16IS760 differs from the SC16IS750 by supporting SPI clock speeds up to 15 Mbit/s (versus 4 Mbit/s for the SC16IS750) and IrDA SIR up to 1.152 Mbit/s. In all other respects, the SC16IS760 is functionally and electrically identical to the SC16IS750. The SC16IS740 is functionally and electrically identical to the SC16IS750, except it does not include programmable I/O pins. The SC16IS740/750/760 internal register set is backward-compatible with the 16C450, simplifying software development and porting. Additional features include auto hardware and software flow control, automatic RS-485 support, and software reset capability—allowing UART reset independent of the hardware reset signal.
